And then he shined that portable Edison Lamp in my eyes !
I have not felt this much amiss since I had to take the company back after Edsel's death. Oh that was a loss, I still feel it like yesterday.
But I digress.
I am not sure where I was but I remember I went to the 'Powerhouse' to see why there were no lights on in my factory. Even at night the great boilers, that power the factory, along with some of the housing, should not be fully damped...
I remember being in the cold and dark basement of the Powerhouse looking for something...
and then he shined that portable Edison Lamp in my eyes !
That brought me awake. Such a brightness I can not recall having seen in an Edison Lamp either, my first thought was to ask him
"What model of light is that that my friend Edison has made..." But I quickly remembered that Alva was dead.
They call me The Kid... I am interested in the Server Room
Hello, they call me 'The Kid'
Yeah, I know its kinda silly, and sometimes I wish they would stop. But a names a name.
You dont have to call me twice either. :)
Some of these people here certainly more than a little nuts too.
Oh well, like the 'old man', CorpRatt, always says "Sure Beats Sittin on the Couch dont it Boy."
I am on this trip for one thing, the server room. Well that, and cause they let me bring my girlfriend along.
These days, a Girl has to look out for herself.
Sure I like a bit of adventure. I like a bit of wildness with the kid too.
I came along because I want to see "Executive Country." I saw those Jets the Execs flew to Washington DC.
This girls gonna see what she can see, find what she can find. Damned Executives are not the only ones that need to make some money.
Plus I saw this place as a little girl. It was like a great living city to me then. A starship even.
Now its dead. WTF !
I worry about my city Atlanta too sometimes.
They call me the Machinist
I use to work in some of the machine shops around Atlanta.
Fabrication was my specialty, that and the lathe.
Now I am retired.
I have a nice home shop though and can still build anything you can draw.
Hopefully I will get to explore some of the Heart and Guts of this huge place.
Why ? What the hell do your mean why??
An Unexpected Meeting
It's me, CorpRattX
The rest of our 'crew' of Urban Explorers each headed off in a different direrections to find the items they are interested in.
I hear someone coming my way...
Hidden Rooms and Other Interesting Things...
Hi its me again, the girl
Executive Country is pretty impressive even with all the furniture gone.
I am taking a closer look at some rooms I saw earlier on the way to the front of the building.
Wow, Look at all the things I found: Hidden Bathrooms, a Professional Chef Kitchen, a cedar paneled Hidden Dining Room. a bathroom with marble and tile hidden in a room labled "Telephone Closet."
Quite a few other things too... take a look !

The Story
Imagine if you will... an economic crisis of such magnitude that a many poorly led mega-corporations are on the rocks. As they die they quickly fall to the scappers.
A group of 'Urban Explorers' enter the Ford, Atlanta Assembly Plant to explore, photograph and say goodbye to this huge piece of history.
Getting in was easy, but were they prepared for what they found there ?
How could this happen ? Why is this company on Life Support while its once proud factories are being torn down ??
How can we prevent it from happening again ? All questions we seek to answer on our little trip.
Also take note that these are the last photographs ever taken of the Ford Atlanta Assembly Plant as it has been completly demolished now.
Educators, Historians, Ford fans and especially engineers we have put the photo and story sequences up in an order that shows exactly how the plant worked.
